Get active and take action for our planet as a part of the 1.5 Degree Challenge
Hi Supporter,
Today is 1/5, which happens to match an important number when it comes to the climate crisis. According to scientists and the UN’s IPCC Climate Report, 1.5 degrees Celsius (or a 2.7°F) rise in average global temperatures is the threshold for climate catastrophe. Right now we’re at 1.2, and we’re already seeing that is not safe.
On January 17, take this New Year’s challenge to move your body and get as active as feels right to you! This is a fun, low-stress way to improve the planet’s health, as well as your own! You can be active however you want, whether that’s snowshoeing, stretching or taking an afternoon walk, and feel good joining this challenge and knowing your minutes and dollars are adding up to something big with Team Sierra!
We’re in a climate crisis. Just this past week, we saw one of the most destructive fires in Colorado’s history, destroying hundreds of homes and evacuating 30,000 people. The rise in temperature is taking a toll on our communities, and the time to act is now.
There is a very narrow path to limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius––and that path is rapidly closing. Our ability to make a rapid transition from fossil fuels to clean energy has never been more consequential.
This problem was created by people, and it can be solved by people. You’re an important part of that solution––your support is what makes all of our work possible. I hope you’ll join us.
