John, it’s officially 2022 -- a big election year! What does that mean for the fight for fair maps?

The short answer is that things are going to move quickly , so our work to combat gerrymandering has never been more important. If you’re ready to join our efforts, you can do so by rushing a donation now. Help us start 2022 off strong in the fight for fair maps >>> [link removed]

From our 2017 founding through the 2020 elections, the NDRC was in Stage One of our work, which involved helping to elect Democrats, pass redistricting reforms, and educate the public and policymakers.

Now we’re knee-deep in Stage Two of our fight. We’ve been analyzing proposed maps, mobilizing the public to participate in the redistricting process, supporting voters in lawsuits where necessary, and championing federal reforms.

But we’re nowhere close to finished: There are a whopping 170 congressional districts still left to draw! And in some key states, voters have brought lawsuits to challenge gerrymandered maps. That all means our work in Stage Two is far from over.

Things are coming down to the wire as the 2022 elections get closer, and Republicans may try to use that deadline as an excuse to push through unfair maps while ignoring the will of voters.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder emphasized that now is NOT the time for fair maps advocates to pull back in our fight. He said, "We’re up against forces that are willing to cheat to maintain majority rule even when they have minority support from the people. Concerted effort and serious commitment are the only ways to fight back."

That’s why we need you now more than ever, John. Can we count on you to rush a contribution to help power this critical phase of our work?
