Mecou, Jack!

As a member of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation in Burlington, North Carolina, part of my work involves protecting sacred places. Yet, apart from sacred land, I also protect another sacred place: the ballot box.

What does that work entail? I knock on a lot of doors. I talk to a lot of voters. I educate a lot of people about why our vote is fundamental to protecting our democracy here in North Carolina. We are currently underway preparing a huge week of action all across our state next week.

We still need to raise $2,000 in the next 48 hours. Will you make a quick $20 contribution? Here’s what your money will buy for us:

$10 = 50 packs of pens
$15 = 15 clipboards
$25 = 5 cases of water
$50 = 500 pieces of literature

Nearly 1 million voters of color eligible to vote did not vote in 2022. This work matters. There are thousands of voices – a wealth of untapped power – in Native communities right here in North Carolina. It’s time to stand together and rise up.

Please help us reach our $2,000 goal in the next 48 hours so we can get the supplies we need to protect our fundamental right to vote in the communities that need that fundamental right to vote the most.
