Exactly one year ago today, our grassroots movement made history. Together, we stood up to incredible odds, won Georgia's runoff elections, and took back the Senate for Democrats.

Since then, I've been honored to serve in the Senate as Georgia's first-ever Black senator – as a child who, many years ago, grew up in Kayton Homes public housing in Savannah, Georgia, the 11th of 12 children. As a proud graduate of Morehouse College. As the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, the spiritual home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Congressman John Lewis.

I've been honored to serve as the son of my late father, who was a pastor himself, a veteran, and a small businessman. And as the son of my mother, who used to pick somebody else's cotton as a teenager growing up in Waycross, Georgia.

We were told we couldn't win this election – but one year ago today, we proved that with hope, hard work, and folks like you by our side, anything is possible. The improbable journey that led me to this place at this historic moment in America could only happen here. Now, I'm fighting to ensure that every child – no matter their zip code – has a fair shot at achieving their American dream.

But while I'm fighting for the people, national Republicans have unfortunately proven that they will do, say, and spend whatever it takes to defeat me and take back the Senate. The GOP is attacking the foundation of our very democracy – our sacred right to vote – and coming after me as its top target in this year's critical midterm elections. 

That's why I'm personally asking, friend: In honor of our historic win last January, will you make a contribution of $5 or more to help me keep Georgia and the Senate blue? We can keep fighting for a brighter future for all of our children – but only if we fight together.

Since Jan. 5, 2021, we've accomplished a great deal. We delivered urgent pandemic relief to struggling families, ensured access to lifesaving vaccines, and supported small businesses as they weathered the economic storm. We fought for long-term investments in our country's future – like repairing our crumbling infrastructure, expanding access to clean water, and creating millions of good-paying jobs. But our work isn't done, friend.

The GOP is 100% committed to blocking our bold agenda and rolling back the life-changing impact of our wins – and they have a real chance to do so if we fail to keep the Senate in Democratic hands. With election experts saying that Senate control could be decided by Georgia's battleground race, Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and the entire GOP establishment are pulling out all the stops to defeat me – and CNN is calling me the most vulnerable Democrat up for reelection.

It's clear that to keep on delivering for the people, we need to win in Georgia and defend our majority – but I can't get it done without your support: Will you give $5 or more now to fight back against GOP attacks, defend Georgia's Democratic seat, and power our unprecedented movement to victory?

This is a make-or-break moment in the lifespan of our country, friend. All of us have an urgent choice to make: Will we continue to divide, distract, and dishonor one another with indifference, negligence, and hate – or will we love our neighbors as we love ourselves?
