I’m Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and I'm writing to ask if you can make a donation of $3 right now, John, and I'll tell you exactly why.

The battle over the future of our democracy is being waged in Michigan, where state Republicans have launched a coordinated, partisan and well-funded effort to make it harder to vote and easier to overturn an election if they don’t like the results.

As if that weren’t enough, I'm the only Democratic incumbent secretary of state running for reelection in a battleground state this year, so there's going to be a national spotlight shining directly on our fundraising numbers.

John, PCCC members helped me win in 2018. With anti-democracy forces working to attack the integrity of our elections like never before, I’m grateful that this year PCCC members from around the country are chipping again so I can keep fighting for voters this year and beyond. We must show our strength -- because a far-right group funded almost entirely by members of Betsy DeVos' family is planning to spend millions to defeat me.

But I'm not asking for your donation because of the money alone. This is about what it will allow us to do. We need to be able to fight for democracy on every front, John. We have the truth on our side and the determination to keep fighting. But what's missing are the resources to educate every voter about what's at stake in this election –- and your $3 or more could make the exact difference we need.

The stakes are only going to get higher as the democracy deniers against us get more and more desperate. Right now is when we have to put real resources behind our commitment to democracy.
