2022 Events
Featuring Glacier Artists-in-Residence

Happy New Year! We are kicking off the new year with events that
highlight the work of two talented Glacier Artists-in-Residence.
First up, join us at Glacier Book Club later this month for an
interactive conversation with Matthew Dickerson, author of A
Fine-Spotted Trout on Corral Creek. Dickerson wrote his latest
book in and about Glacier during his time in the park as a 2017
Artist-in-Residence.

Then, in February, award-winning photographer and dark skies
advocate Imma Barrera will join us at our first Glacier
Conversations event of 2022. She will discuss her work as a 2021
Glacier Artist-in-Residence and her mission to inspire others to
appreciate the value of our wild places. Keep reading to learn
more about each event, and sign up for free at the registration
links below. We hope to see you there!

Glacier Book Club

A Fine-Spotted Trout on Corral Creek
by Matthew Dickerson

Wednesday, January 26
6:30PM MST

Don't let the title fool you. Matthew Dickerson’s most recent
book is almost entirely about his experiences as an
Artist-in-Residence here in Glacier National Park. His
well-crafted prose narrative takes readers along as he casts
about, quite literally, in search of native cutthroat trout. Walk
along as he fishes Snyder Creek, Avalanche Lake, Hidden Lake and
the Flathead River while weaving an important scientific
narrative about the importance of species protection.

Author Matthew Dickerson was a 2017 Artist-in-Residence at
Glacier National Park, invited to that residence specifically to
learn and write about cutthroat trout. He is donating his
proceeds from the sale of the book to the Glacier National Park
Conservancy, with his publisher matching his royalty
contribution!

Glacier Conversations

Under The Night Sky
with Photographer and Artist-in-Residence Imma Barrera

Wednesday, February 9
6:30PM MST

The Under The Night Sky presentation will highlight Imma’s
current project to raise awareness about the importance of nature
conservation efforts, in particular, protecting the night sky
from light pollution. "Preserving the night environment helps
support human health and heritage and preserve wildlife
habitats," says Imma. "Night photography offers a chance to
capture and document scenes that few people ever see nowadays due
to artificial light and airglow pollution."

Imma's work presented here
( [link removed] )
will focus on a selection of night images captured at several
areas of the National Park System, including Glacier, Capitol
Reef and Acadia Artist-in-Residence programs, and will be part of
the soon to be published Under The Night Sky book.

Born in Barcelona, Imma Barrera is a landscape and nature
photographer based in New Jersey. One of her favorite subjects to
photograph is the Milky Way, and she has been selected for
several Artist-in-Residence programs (Capitol Reef NP, Acadia NP,
Glacier NP) for her night sky photography. To learn more about
Imma, and to see her photographs from her time spent in various
National Park Artist-in-Residence programs, please visit this
