Happy New Year! Wishing you and your loved ones all the best things in life for this coming year.

 

Every year I intend on making one resolution. Then I think "But three is also attainable, and I have a lot I need to improve on." So I sit down to write it and it ends up being the same exact list of 10-15 things I've been writing down for the last twenty years. Eat healthier, smaller portions, workout 3-5 times a week, stop biting my nails, stop going to sleep at 4 or 5 am, write 4 times a week, etc etc etc. And by five days in I have failed at all of them. I had the realization that my biggest problem is the follow through. So this year I'm trying something different. My resolution is just to follow through. Keep my commitment to my word for the things I announce. Both publicly and to myself. I think if I can do that, the rest will fall into place. And hopefully you will benefit from that too, because I have some very exciting things I'll be announcing soon. And some I'll be announcing in this email!

I would like to add to my vibes going into the new year one wish though as well. To age better. Because on Jan 2 I woke up, and in the restroom I yawned. And that yawn pulled a damn muscle in my neck and back! And I mean aggressively pulled. Could hardly turn my head or lift my arms all day. So I went and got a massage, and this nice gray haired lady beat me up for 60 arduous minutes. She worked the pulled muscles so hard, and then thought at the end she'd take it up a notch and start walking on me!!! More like stomping. She probably has a background in parades, or drum lines. I was making so much noise I'm surprised the police didn't barge in to arrest her. Or me! Good news is that the stiffness in my body is gone. Bad news is those muscles are now severely bruised and so I still can't really move. Which I hope clears up in the next few days because...

 

On Thursday January 20th I'm filming my Second. Ever. Hour. Standup. Special! I am very excited about this. I'll be flying to Philadelphia to film the hour I've been on tour working on. I'm taping it at the famed Helium Comedy Club in Philly. My first hour special, "Neurotic Gangster" which premiered years ago on Showtime, and is now on Amazon Prime, (or you can watch for free now on Youtube HERE) was in a huge fancy theater in Santa Barbara. For my second special I decided it should be more intimate, and on the east coast, to give it a different energy. If you live anywhere near Philadelphia, I really hope you can make it to the show!
