Join NOW for the Jan. 6th Day of Remembrance & Action
===========================
January 5, 2022
Dear John,
This Thursday, January 6th marks the anniversary of a violent and deadly attack by insurrectionists on the U.S. Capitol. This was also an attack against all Americans – against our country, our democracy, and our freedom as voters to choose the leaders who represent us.
While the attempts to circumvent our election system have continued throughout this past year – with over 400 anti-democracy bills introduced in nearly all 50 state legislatures- we're making sure these attacks will continue to be unsuccessful, and we won't allow democratically elected leaders from taking office.
NOW will be joining coalition partners this Thursday to remember this infamous day when our democracy almost died, and to call for legislation to protect our democracy for the future.
WHAT: Day of Remembrance and Action
WHEN: Thursday, January 6th @ 4:30 pm ET
WHERE: Washington, D.C. - National Mall (in front of the Capitol Building)
WHY: To demand the Senate do everything in their power to protect and strengthen our democracy and call on them to pass the Freedom to Vote Act, the Protecting Our Democracy Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and DC Statehood
HOW: Join NOW and dozens of activist partner groups for a peaceful demonstration and candlelight vigil. RSVP for the D.C. event here or find other actions taking place in communities across the country here.
In Solidarity,
Christian F. Nunes
