John,

As soon as Democrats took control of the Senate, ending the filibuster
should have been their top priority. Now, it’s a crisis point for the
Democratic majority.

Senate Democrats have finally decided to vote to change filibuster rules
in order to pass voting rights. That’s good news, but there are two
problems.

1) Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema don’t want to change the rules if
there’s no Republican support. They’re willing to throw away critical
voting rights legislation.

2) This potential filibuster change won’t end the filibuster. It won’t
allow other progressive legislation, like bills to codify Roe v. Wade,
protect LGBTQIA+ rights, and address racial inequality, pass with a simple
majority. Ending the filibuster is the only way we can pass these types of
bills.

[ [link removed] ]Senate Democrats must stop empowering Republicans. They must finally
end the filibuster. Can you chip in $3 right now to fuel
our continued fight to end the filibuster?

Six months ago, Mitch McConnell and the GOP used the filibuster to block
the For The People Act. That was a big opportunity to secure historic
voting rights protections as Republicans across the country pass more
voter suppression laws.

Why has it taken so long for Senate Democrats to act? And will Manchin and
Sinema block even the most basic filibuster reform? This may be our last
chance for voting rights.

Until we transform the Democratic Party to unequivocally fight for the
people and take bold action like ending the filibuster, this country is in
trouble.

[ [link removed] ]If you’re sick of the GOP blocking change and Democrats refusing to
end the filibuster, donate $3 or more today to fuel our
work to end the filibuster.

In solidarity,

Justice Democrats
