How many of your loved ones have you spoken to about getting vaccinated?
Hey there,
Right now, hospitals in Wisconsin – particularly in rural areas – are being overwhelmed by another surge of COVID-19 patients. It’s heartbreaking to think of the exhaustion my fellow health care workers continue to endure because of COVID denial, rampant misinformation, and low vaccination rates that have resulted from it.
Though I know from personal experience that it can be challenging, one-on-one conversations with friends and loved ones who are hesitant about getting vaccinated will mean the difference between sickness and health. They will be a critical piece of helping us end this pandemic this year.
Instead of being a part of the solution, Ron Johnson’s willingness to spread misinformation and create fear around vaccines has been a major driver behind vaccine hesitancy.
As a physician, here’s what I know for certain: In order to prevent the development of COVID variants, we must reduce the number of infections in our populations. In order to reduce infections and prevent sickness and death, we need as many people to get vaccinated and boosted as possible.
I’m committed to counteracting misinformation through empathetic conversations with friends and loved ones – but I’m only one person: It’s going to take all of us doing our part to get people vaccinated.
Thank you so much for helping be a part of the solution,
Dr. Gillian Battino
