Two Washington Post headlines that read:

“Democratic push on voting rights becomes more urgent”
“Voting rights reform moves to the front of the line”

John, great news: Voting rights legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act are expected to be on the Senate’s agenda soon ! And with big elections coming up this year, passing these bills has never been more important. Real quick, can you chip in to help the NDRC support these bills and keep fighting gerrymandering and voter suppression in the states?

The midterms are just around the corner, and Republicans are determined to do whatever it takes to regain power -- even if that means undermining democracy. That leaves us with two options.

Our first option is to do nothing. We can let the GOP get away with their plans to suppress voting rights and manipulate our maps. They’ll win unearned majorities, and Democrats could be shut out of power for the next decade .

Don’t like that option? Me either.

That’s why our second option is to get busy. We can double down on our efforts to support the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. We can work to ensure every American can exercise their right to vote, and we can help stop Republicans from using gerrymandering to tip the scales in their favor.

Defending our democracy is so important, John, which is why I’m asking you to join me in choosing the second option. Will you rush a contribution today to help the NDRC keep up the fight for voting and democracy?
