John, it's happening! 🎉
It's a new year, and new WFP candidates all across the country who won their elections in November are being sworn in, ushering in a better and brighter future ahead:
Mayor Ed Gainey and Mayor Michelle Wu were sworn in and are already working hard to serve their communities of Pittsburgh and Boston, respectively.
Brad Lander took the oath of office to be the next New York City Comptroller, joining fellow WFP champion NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams in citywide office.
The New York City Council will be more progressive than ever, with a historic majority of women, and new WFP champions like Shahana Hanif, Sandy Nurse, Tiffany Cabán, and many more ready to serve.
Georgia WFP candidate Liliana Bakhtiari became the state's first out queer Muslim elected to Atlanta City Council, joining Jason Dozier and Antonio Lewis.
Organizer, city council member, and socialist khalid kamau will be sworn in this afternoon as mayor in the Blackest city in America, South Fulton, GA.
Finally, in Washington State, WFP candidates Iris Guzmán, Mohamed Egal, and Jake Simpson were sworn into SeaTac City Council, shaking up a community long controlled by conservatives and proving that we can elect progressives everywhere.
There will be more inaugurations and swearing-in ceremonies to celebrate in the coming days — but we're clear-eyed about the task ahead. We need to elect more progressives this year if we want to make our government work for everyone — and with the first primary elections coming up in Texas in less than three months, we have to get to work now.
Can we count on you to become one of our very first donors in 2022 and help us lay the groundwork for our electoral organizing in the weeks and months ahead? Even $3 makes a big difference.
More soon, and in solidarity,
All of us at the Working Families Party
