Happy New Year, friends!
As we look forward to 2022, I’m so proud of everything Democrats were able to accomplish in 2021.
- In March, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan into law. This critical stimulus package is giving our economy a boost and helping working Americans recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we did it without a single Republican voting to support working families. The Democrat-passed package extended the expansion of unemployment benefits, expanded the child tax credit, delivered $1,400 checks to millions of Americans and much, much more.
- In May, President Biden signed the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act into law. This law protects Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities against the spike in hate crimes that we’ve seen throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. I joined Senator Mazie Hirono in introducing this legislation, and am very proud of our work in pushing the Biden Administration to hold those who engage in bigotry-motivated acts of violence accountable.
- In November, President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal into law. This law paves the way for expanded high-speed internet access, more accessible public transit, improved Amtrak services and revitalizing our roads, bridges and airports. The bill also includes my provision to finally get rid of lead in our drinking water and modernize our wastewater systems so that communities like Cahokia Heights don’t have to worry about raw sewage seeping into their yards whenever it rains heavily.
These accomplishments would not have been possible without Democrats’ Senate majority, and these policies are already changing the lives of millions of working families for the better.
But this past year has also proven that our razor-thin 50 seat majority simply isn’t enough — Senate Republicans are doing everything they can to obstruct President Biden’s agenda and prevent us from sending more help to struggling families across the nation.
If we are going to keep up our progress on the issues we all care about, we need to protect and expand our Democratic Majority. That is why I am asking for your support:
Can you make a contribution of $5 to my campaign today? By donating, you’ll show your support for all that we’ve accomplished so far, and help us to protect and expand our Senate majority to get even more done.
Thank you for reading, and once again, Happy New Year. I’m looking forward to accomplishing so much more in 2022.
All my best,
Tammy Duckworth
