Let's protect the future of democracy for everyone

Friend,

Last January 6, the insurrection at the Capitol was an attack against our country, our democracy, and our freedom as voters. This assault by right-wing militants demonstrated the dangers facing our nation and underscored the urgency with which we need to transform our political system into one that works for all of us.

One year later, we still don't have the protections our democracy needs. Tha's why the U.S. Senate and President Biden must do whatever is necessary to pass the Freedom to Vote Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, the Protecting our Democracy Act, and DC Statehood now.

That's also why, this January 6, communities across America are coming together for peaceful candlelight vigils and community events to send one simple and critical message: we must protect our voting rights and our democracy, and we demand that our Senators act to pass the legislation necessary to do so.

There are candlelight vigils and community gatherings happening across America. Find one near your community!

Coming together peacefully, we can build people-powered grassroots pressure to demand legislation that will prevent another January 6 attack and realize the promise of democracy for all of us — no matter our race, zip code, or income — so that we all have an equal say in the decisions that shape our daily lives and futures.

Join a candlelight vigil and gathering near you on January 6th, 2022!

This year, we are coming together to advocate for the urgent changes that will finally safeguard our voting rights and our democracy.

In community,

Justin Kwasa
Voting Rights Program Director
