Call for Host Venues for Chamber Events and Meetings Are you ready to welcome people into your space for events? We are looking for hosts for our 2022 Business After Business networking events and Board of Directors meetings. Business After Business is a popular event that occurs from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The event serves as a monthly opportunity for Chamber members to meet and mingle with one another, both socially and professionally. Hosts have the opportunity to provide a welcome as part of the program. The Chamber Board of Directors meetings are lunchtime events and are a great way to showcase your space to up to 50 of Arlington’s top business leaders. As the host, you have the opportunity to give a formal welcome before the meetings starts. Hosts for both receive great marketing, both in advance and by showcasing their venue. For more information on becoming a host, review our Business After Business Guidelines and Board of Directors Meeting Guidelines and contact Cassie Bate Hurley, Senior Director of Marketing & Operations, at [email protected] to inquire about available dates. Rich Doud Arlington Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund Our Arlington Chamber community continues to mourn the loss of former President Rich Doud. Rich’s legacy continues to live on in many ways throughout the County, including the Rich Doud Arlington Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the scholarship fund, which is operated through the Arlington Community Foundation and provides financial assistance to Arlington students who demonstrate financial need, academic merit, and community leadership. More than $1,700 has been raised in Rich’s memory and donations continue to come in, showing just how much Rich meant to our community. To learn more about the scholarship fund or to donate, please visit the donation page. Recent Chamber Advocacy We supported the criteria being used to evaluate proposals for the CC2DCA Intermodal Connector project and encouraged the selection of a design concept 7D. This preferred design concept best fulfills the project’s purpose and needs. We also encouraged Arlington County to amend the General Land Use Plan (GLUP) to support projects that will add density and provide much-needed housing at the Courthouse West site, located four blocks from both the Courthouse and Clarendon Metro stations.
