Today — on the first day of his campaign — I’m announcing my endorsement of Austin Davis for Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania.

I’m going to tell you all about why Austin’s candidacy is historic, and how I know he’s the right choice to take on the big fights for Pennsylvanians by my side. But before I do that, I need to ask for your help.

Let me tell you a bit about Austin. A lifelong resident of McKeesport, he knows the struggles working families face firsthand. After becoming a first generation college graduate he has spent his career in public service — eventually becoming the first Black Representative of the 35th district in the Mon Valley.

Now, he’s running to be our first Black Lieutenant Governor and the highest ranking Black elected official in Pennsylvania history.

Austin has spent his career fighting for the people of Western Pennsylvania — including communities that are too often forgotten in Harrisburg.

He’s fought for working people — fighting to make health care more affordable, supporting a higher minimum wage, and working to bring good-paying jobs to Western Pennsylvania. He brought home investments to McKeesport and Clairton — and fought to reduce crime and make our communities more safe.
