Help us combat the “stench” of partisanship on the Supreme Court → [[link removed]]
John -- Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor delivered a scathing critique of the Court. She said she doesn’t “see how it is possible” the Court will be viewed as non-partisan and fair after the conservative justices helped roll back abortion rights.
We agree with her assessment. But we believe this isn’t the only decision that has helped undermine its reputation of impartiality.
In 2019, the Court refused to put guardrails on partisan gerrymandering. Then before the 2020 election during the pandemic, the Court refused to extend Wisconsin’s deadline for submitting absentee ballots -- and this summer, the conservative justices green-lit voter suppression in the Brnovich decision.
“Will this institution survive the stench [of partisanship]? I don’t see how it is possible.”

The “stench” of partisanship has been stinking up the Supreme Court for a while. But we can accomplish what the Court has refused to do by stopping voter suppression and ending gerrymandering, without their help.
Along with helping voters challenge gerrymandered maps in places like Ohio and Texas, our team is working on getting the Freedom to Vote Act passed by Congress because that’s another way we achieve fair maps and protect the right to vote before the 2022 midterm elections!
If you agree with Justice Sotomayor, will you support our work to achieve fair redistricting by pitching in $35 right now? You can also make a donation of whatever makes the most sense to you.

The “stench” of partisanship may never go away. But the road to reforming our judicial system starts with empowering voters.
Since the conservative majority on the Supreme Court has shown a public disdain for American democracy, it’s up to us to protect it -- but our window to make a difference is closing.
Can we count on you to make a contribution right now and help us pass the Freedom to Vote Act? We’re also supporting voters in challenging gerrymandered maps and executing our state-by-state strategy for fair redistricting.
