Hi Friend
I’m here in Milwaukee getting ready for another AFT Votes town hall; this time we’re talking to Democratic presidential candidate Tom Steyer.
We’ll be getting things underway at 4:15 p.m. Central time at the Milwaukee Area Technical College. If you can’t make it, be sure to tune in to the livestream on YouTube, Facebook or Periscope.
As an ally and partner of the AFT, Steyer is an advocate for the issues that are important to our members, including ensuring access to affordable or free high-quality higher education, increasing the minimum wage, strengthening the right to organize, and fighting for affordable healthcare coverage.
This members-only town hall is the 10th in a series of member events we’ve been holding with candidates across the country. A core principle of the AFT 2020 presidential process is candidates’ direct engagement with our members, whether they’re educators, support staff, healthcare workers or public employees. AFT Votes town halls are a chance for candidates like Steyer to hear directly from members about the policies affecting their lives, and for members to hear about the candidates’ campaigns and how they plan to increase voter participation, strengthen the right to organize, and fight for high-quality, affordable healthcare.
Since our 2020 endorsement process is all about member engagement, I hope you’ll tune in to hear Steyer’s answers to questions members ask in person or have submitted online.
It’s time to get ready for 2020 by making sure we know where the candidates stand and the candidates know what matters most to us. Go to our Facebook, YouTube or Periscope now to watch the town hall starting at 4:15 p.m. Central time.
In unity,
Randi Weingarten
