It’s officially an election year, and we’re heading into 2022 in a strong position because of grassroots supporters like you. You play an important role in building our grassroots organization, which is critical, because we’re facing tough races this year in Ohio and across the country.

When you contribute to our movement, you help give us the financial resources to connect with voters about all of the important work Democrats are doing to empower workers and their families. And the fact is, we have a lot to get done this year.

Here are some of my top priorities for 2022:

Help working families keep up with their biggest costs: In addition to the Child Tax Credit, we need to take more steps to make sure working families can keep up with the rising cost of living and raising a family. That means making child care more affordable, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, and bringing down the cost of housing.

Protect voting rights and our elections: Last year, 19 states enacted 34 laws that make it harder to vote and over 400 voter suppression bills were introduced in states across the country -- including Ohio. And around the country, lawmakers are weaponizing redistricting so politicians can choose their voters rather than the other way around. We can’t let them get away with a partisan takeover of the nonpartisan election administration. We need to combat rampant voter suppression, restore voting rights, and protect the integrity of our democracy.

Protect access to reproductive health care and a woman’s right to choose: The Supreme Court is considering a case that could dismantle Roe v. Wade and its nearly 50 years of protections for reproductive health care. All health care decisions should remain between patients and their doctors. That’s why I’m committed to protecting access to reproductive health care for the millions of Americans who are depending on it.

Extend the Child Tax Credit: The expanded CTC was the biggest tax cut for middle-class families ever and benefited the vast majority of American parents. It’s money families can count on every month and that they can choose how to spend to best meet their needs -- whether that’s rent, groceries, school supplies, or something else. But the CTC expansion expired at the end of 2021, and we must take action to extend it for working families.
