John,
This Thursday marks a year since the insurrection, which was fueled by then-President Trump’s lies and abetted by the actions of 147 members of Congress who voted to reject one or more states’ election results. In the wake of the insurrection, dozens of companies promised to stop or reconsider giving to these members of the Sedition Caucus.
Unfortunately, many companies quickly broke those promises—and many others continued giving as if nothing had happened. Those companies were hoping that people would forget their promises and overlook their donations, even though only a single one of those 147 members took any steps toward apologizing for their votes or reaffirming a commitment to democratic elections.
CREW wasn’t going to let their betrayal of democracy go unnoticed—and our new report, outlining a year’s worth of corporate and industry group donations to the Sedition Caucus, makes clear how widespread that betrayal is. 717 corporations and industry groups have donated over $18 million to re-elect the Sedition Caucus—companies including Google, Walmart, JetBlue, CVS, Ford, General Motors, Boeing and many many more.

This report—and all of CREW’s work—is possible thanks to CREW’s generous supporters. That includes the hundreds of you who donated during our year-end matching challenge, helping us raise more than $50,000 to sustain our anti-corruption and pro-democracy work. Thank you to everyone who donated—because of you, we’ll be in this fight for as long as it takes.
Thank you,
Noah Bookbinder
President, CREW
