‌ ‌John -- In a new report by NBC News, election experts predict a decline in competitive elections due to the “aggressive gerrymandering during this redistricting cycle.

If you’re in a position to do so, will you make a donation to All On The Line to help us fight for fair elections and pass the Freedom to Vote Act? This bill will establish a baseline of fairness to the congressional maps in all 50 states thanks to its anti-gerrymandering provisions.

Brennan Center redistricting expert Michael Li warned: "Competition is one of the big victims of this round of redistricting.”

Take a look at four examples of how Republicans manipulated maps in AOTL target states:

1. GOP lawmakers in Ohio “sidestepped a new commission.”
2. Republican legislators in North Carolina “ignored race data.”
3. Conservative map drawers in Georgia drew a map with “no competitive seats.”
4. Right-wing lawmakers in Texas eliminated many swing districts with a map that resulted in the “loss of some of the most competitive House races in the country.”

If Congress passes the Freedom to Vote Act this year as planned, maps in these states could be challenged on partisan gerrymandering grounds. Our team already determined the maps in Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas would FAIL the bill’s gerrymandering test.

Competitive districts are the foundation of our democracy. They ensure neither party becomes too extreme or polarized. We cannot allow this trend of eliminating swing districts to go unchecked.

Will you make a donation -- of any amount -- to support our movement in helping to pass this bill? We must take action on voting rights in the next few weeks.
