Here’s why I’m running: Our democracy is still under assault, and each day brings new and creative attacks from Donald Trump, the Republicans in Congress in his thrall, and Republicans in State Houses across the country. They are assaulting voting rights, and spreading the Big Lie, all to great effect. And they show no signs of stopping. The right to vote is fundamental. The right on which all others rest. And if we don’t protect it, and build back our democracy after the last four years, we may not recognize what it looks like in four more. That’s what drives me, and that’s what I’ll keep fighting for. Our Democracy. I’m also running to make real progress on the big policy issues – the ones that make an impact on people's daily lives – that my constituents sent me to Washington to tackle. Ending the pandemic. Making the economy work for everyone. Making health care universal. Fighting climate change. Lowering living costs and helping bottom lines. And local issues like ensuring everyone has a roof over their head, preserving open space for generations to come, and investing in new, greener infrastructure and mass transit. We’ve seen amazing progress in 2021. We passed a major relief package that cut child poverty in half. We passed a bipartisan infrastructure package that will bring a substantial investment in our roads, bridges, transit, and airports, as well as cleaner water and air. And the House passed a critical measure to lower prescription drug costs, provide family leave, help lower childcare costs, and fight climate change. That job isn’t finished. Not by a long shot. That’s why I’m running for re-election. California has a jungle primary. I’m going to face a lot of challengers – both Democrats and Republicans – who will raise a lot of money, run competitive races and try to beat me. That’s why I am asking respectfully for your help, today. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: One lesson I’ve learned is to never take an election for granted, and that means starting early and doing the important work of direct outreach. Thanks for always standing with me, and having my back. Let’s go out there, and let’s win. — Adam |
