Our Ethics Plan
I've been investigating corruption in Missouri government for over two years. I just uncovered ([link removed]) that our Attorney General is taking money from people he is investigating and that he is not enforcing the Attorney General's Office's conflict of interest policy.
He's using his office to fill his campaign account.
Our Attorney General recently took dark money ([link removed]) from Paul McKee and his associates. McKee is notorious in St. Louis. He has taken over $40 million in tax credits to buy up properties in the city, but then leaves the properties to crumble. Oftentimes, he just returns the property to the seller, but he never returns the tax credits; he pockets the millions of dollars he fraudulently takes from the state.

McKee has preyed on the poor, destroyed swaths of the city, and stolen millions of dollars in taxpayer money.
Attorney General Hawley investigated McKee. But when our new Attorney General inherited the case, he soon settled the multimillion dollar case and any other potential related cases for a little over $300,000. We didn't even recoup 1% of the money McKee may have stolen from Missouri.
Our Attorney General has taken a lot of money from McKee and his associates. And recently, he took $10,000 in dark money from a nondescript organization. Investigative reporting discovered that money came from the McKee operation.
Our Attorney General said he had a strong conflict of interest policy and that we shouldn't worry. I used Missouri's Sunshine Law to get a copy of that policy, which was put in place by Hawley, and it does prohibit the Attorney General from taking money from people he's investigating. It enforces that prohibition by requiring regular audits.
So I asked for the audits. There are none. That's because our Attorney General is not enforcing his own policies.

Our Attorney General is not here for us. He's cutting deals with his big donors, he's helping a predator get away with taxpayer theft, and he's demolishing the integrity of the Office of the Attorney General. This corruption runs deep and involves dark money, developers, and even illegal gambling machines.
We've got to clean up Missouri.

Our plan calls for a major ethics overhaul in our government and is being called one of the most comprehensive ethics plans for an elected office in America. And yesterday, I started the process to appeal my dark money case to the Missouri Supreme Court.
As Attorney General, I will prosecute public corruption, fight the influence of big money in our government, and always work for you, just like I am now.
We need to take back Missouri.
