John,
Over the last ten months, I have been blessed to traverse Mississippi sharing with our beautiful and wonderful people this truth: I swore an oath to protect and defend. My oath did not retire. It still has not.
My oath to serve is not determined by the outcome of an election. I am determined to continue a lifetime of service, always putting people first.
Although our path did not lead to the office of Mississippi Attorney General, I am still determined to protect all Mississippians.
I congratulate Lynn Fitch on being positioned as the state's chief legal officer. I will continue to pray for all the leadership of the State of Mississippi and ask God to remind them daily of their duty to serve all the people of this state.
Because it is all the people who make this state great.
To all who voted for me...to those who prayed for me...to the thousands of grassroots supporters who invested their time, talent, or treasure in our campaign...to my family and friends who loved on and lifted me...I say thank you and remind you -- we are resilient and determined.
Although we did not prevail this time, our campaign made history and made a difference.
Our cadence must continue to be "with a steady beat" as we continue to march toward the prize of the high calling, until the flag to which we pledge allegiance is truly representative of "one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
Determined to continue to serve, protect, and defend,
Jennifer Riley Collins
