2021 was, in many ways, a year of continuity. We saw another year of remote and hybrid school and work, another year of a pandemic, another year of adapting to a new world. It was also a year of forward momentum.

Here at the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT), we fought to protect end-to-end encryption across the globe from both government overreach and corporate action. We urged governments around the world to consider technology policy as a central tenet of international relations, and not an afterthought. We fought against abusive AI, and for the rights of workers, students, and consumers. We shared resources to counter mis- and disinformation and strengthen the integrity of elections. We helped teachers and schools better protect and respect students’ privacy. We could not have done it without you.

We’re grateful to have your support of CDT. Thanks to our passionate, dedicated, and generous community, we’re putting civil rights and civil liberties at the center of the digital age.

Thank you for an amazing year, and I look forward to our partnership in 2022.

Happy New Year,

Alex
