John— The holiday season this year isn’t quite what many of us hoped it would be. With Covid-19 cases spiking across the country, I’m as discouraged and exhausted as I’m sure many of you are. In the midst of a pandemic nearing the two-year mark, it can understandably be hard to keep space in our minds and hearts for other causes clamoring for our attention. It can also be hard to keep up the will and resilience to stay in the fight against gun violence when there’s no shortage of obstacles in our path. [ [link removed] ]Your support in 2021 has helped in the face of many challenges–in the courthouse and communities across the country. In these moments, I think of our leader, Gabby Giffords, who perseveres in this fight despite contending with injuries that make it harder for her to speak and walk, 11 years after she was shot. I also think of Pauletta Perez, who also embarked on the long road of physical and emotional recovery after being shot by her husband multiple times. Pauletta took a certification course to become a domestic violence advocate and now helps others escape abusive relationships. “The only thing that helped me begin to process the trauma I experienced was my decision to give my pain a purpose,” Pauletta [ [link removed] ]wrote on the Giffords blog this fall. “I knew I wanted to do something to help others, so they wouldn’t have to go through what I did.” These women, and the many survivors of gun violence I have the privilege of interacting with through my work, inspire me and bring me hope. You, our supporters, also inspire me and bring me hope. Thank you for your generosity and for sticking with us through such a difficult time. [ [link removed] ]If you can, please consider making one last gift to support our work before the end of the year. [ [link removed] ]$10 [ [link removed] ]$25 [ [link removed] ]$50 [ [link removed] ]$100 [ [link removed] ]$250 I wish you and yours all the best this holiday season and hope you’re able to ring in the new year with happiness and health. We’ll see you in 2022. Warmly, Robyn PS: Check if your employer will [ [link removed] ]match your gift to Giffords Law Center before the end of the year. -- Robyn Thomas Executive Director Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence
