Give The Gift Of Progress! |

Hi Friend, I’m happy to say we made it through 2021! It was a better year than 2020, but I know 2022 is going to be epic. Not only is it an election year, but we are starting to see our state recover thanks to some of our amazing leaders and that is something to be excited about. There is so much to be hopeful for on this New Year’s Eve, including reaching our end-of-year fundraising goal of $2500 now! As a member of our extended family, I’d like to tell you some of my favorite personal things about 2021! This year, I actually prioritized my health. I made important doctor appointments I had been putting off, I was super stoked to get glasses because they have always been my FAVORITE accessory, and our team covered for me this past July so I could take a month off to rest after the legislative session (it was incredible)! During that month off, my husband Nick and I took an amazing road trip to all 9 national parks in California for his 40th birthday. It was by far one of the best adventures we have ever taken together. Travel is one of my greatest joys as a Sagittarius and this trip did not disappoint. Each park was different and incredible in its own way; the best part had to be all the trees. The Redwoods were magical and we were there while the fog was still present, as you can see from the photo. The Sequoias literally took my breath away. There is not much that shocks me, but the sheer size and beauty stunned me as we moved through the park. Then there were the Joshua Trees, my most favorite tree of all. And all of this we did in ONE week - crazy I know!
Support our work now and help keep all this fun going into 2022! One of my other favorite things I did this year was watching a new documentary called, “Growing Floret.” I encourage you to watch it this holiday season. It’s about an incredible woman-owned flower farmer in Washington state who grew her tiny backyard business into a flower empire and the footage is stunning. I also binge-watched, “What We Do In The Shadows”. If you need a good laugh and a fun/silly show, I highly recommend it. I am also super proud of Nick this year. Nick is the Safety Manager at a local company in Henderson. He passed a major audit this year with Nevada OSHA, and not only that but the plant was recertified for extra years! He worked so hard on this audit and it was a highlight for our year, as a family, and his career. As you probably know, I LOVE pugs. I have a rescue pug named Roosevelt, as well as Eleanor, who sadly passed in 2018 (she is still very present in our lives). BUT, I have another dog who I am equally as obsessed with named Squiggy who is also a rescue and is a Welsh Corgi mix - he’s the brilliant one of the bunch. Then, we have my two rescue desert tortoises, Herbie and Pie, that we have had since they were hatchlings. They are both currently brumating (hibernating), but I cannot wait for their return this spring when the weather warms up and we all get to play in our backyard again! My backyard is my happy place and has truly been a saving grace for me during this pandemic - sometimes you might even see me on call out there during the spring and fall! Now enough about me, back to our work here at BBP. Each year we do multiple fundraisers but this one has to be my favorite. Not only is it about ensuring we can continue fighting for our communities, but we chose to highlight all of our staff who are very much part of my chosen family. They are the actual people who make this work happen. They have had some amazing things happen in their lives this year and I am so incredibly proud of each of them for their hard work and dedication to these organizations. We also could not do this work without all of you so from our BBP family to yours. THANK YOU for always supporting our work across Nevada Happy New Year! Celebrate safely. And don’t forget to support progress today! Cheers to love, pugs, and a progressive 2022, PS: Roosevelt and Squiggy are also asking you to make a donation to BBP for their mama today! |
