On the last day of the year, I'm wishing you a Happy New Year's Eve, and I want to say thank you. 2021 wasn't an easy year — for any of us. We're still battling COVID-19, and our community is continuing to face systemic challenges that existed long before the pandemic.

But, we made great strides this year. Because of you, we implemented a $1.9 trillion economic relief bill to give people and small businesses a helping hand. We passed a once-in-a-generation infrastructure package to rebuild and revitalize our neighborhoods. And we fought for reproductive freedom, affordable health care, racial justice, social equity, voting rights, and our democracy.

Together, we have persevered through historic challenges. And in 2022, we will keep on fighting for our communities and working together to improve the lives of Philadelphia families.

John, as a North Philadelphia native and a former leader in the State Legislature, I've learned from experience that no victory comes easily. It will take more hard work to forward civil rights, economic opportunity, quality education, and safer neighborhoods for all in the new year.
