NDRN Testifies to Congress on Voting Rights

Did you catch this? A few weeks ago, Michelle Bishop, NDRN’s Voting Rights Specialist, testified before Congress on the voting rights of people with disabilities.

Michelle spoke about polling place accessibly, polling place closures and voter participation of people with disabilities. In her testimony, she called for Congress to pass legislation that would restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Michelle also urged the federal government to do more to ensure that voters with disabilities have equal access to America’s electoral system by enforcing the laws that protect the rights of people with disabilities including the Voting Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and the Help America Vote Act.

Yesterday, we saw voters turn out in record numbers across the country. And next year is sure to be one of the most talked about elections in history. Our job? Make equal access in voter participation a reality.

Check out Michelle’s testimony....
