Dear Causes friends,

Stop. Take a moment. Breathe.

You’ve reached the end of 2021. You impacted 2021. And there was a lot of year to this year: Delta & Omicron. The January 6th insurrection. Joe Biden’s Inauguration. Kamala Harris making history as the first woman, and woman of color, to become vice president. The U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Juneteenth becoming a national holiday. The Olympics. Booster shots. (I could go on…)

Regardless of whether you’re an (I), (R), or (D), I’m sure the one thing we can agree on is that 2021 has been quite the roller coaster ride.

As the clock ticks down to midnight, and we prepare to hang that 2022 calendar up on the fridge, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you!

All 975,556 of you who took over 1.5 million actions this year.

You weren’t content just reading the news, you made your likes do more. You sent messages and videos to your reps in Washington. You signed petitions to business leaders. You donated to organizations cleaning up the ocean, protecting the rights of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, supporting the people of Afghanistan, helping those affected by natural disasters, and combatting climate change. You act-ed!

At the same time, we hear you: these are tumultuous times. We understand your worries, your fears, and your anger. We echo your pleas and we share your concerns. That’s why, very soon, we’ll be launching a new As part of the new launch, we’ll bring you powerful new tools for you to amplify your voice even louder, stretch your cause even further, and make your likes do even more.

Together, I can’t wait to see what we will achieve in 2022. Happy New Year,

Congress had an eventful 2021, as several notable initiatives moved forward and others stalled. Here, we look back at some of the major legislation ([link removed]) your lawmakers considered in the past 365 days.

A preview:

Impeaching Former President Donald Trump
* Following the January 6th riot at the Capitol that interrupted Congress’s certification of the Electoral College’s results, the House voted to impeach then-President Donald Trump for the “incitement of an insurrection.”

American Rescue Plan Act
* Democrats passed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act ([link removed]) using the budget reconciliation process in late February and early March. It passed the House on a party-line vote of 220-211 and the Senate on a 50-49 vote.

Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act
* Drafted by a bipartisan group of senators to combine the reauthorization of surface transportation and water resources development programs with additional new spending on infrastructure, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act ([link removed]) was one of the most significant pieces of infrastructure legislation considered by Congress in years.
