Dear John,

We know things haven’t been easy in 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic has continued. Economic turmoil grips many countries. Old crises endure, and new emergencies have emerged.

The last several months haven’t been kind to millions around the world. But throughout all this, you’ve stayed compassionate and committed.

When times get tough, we can count on you – and for that, we give thanks.

In 2021, we needed your help, and you responded with caring generosity. With your support, UNHCR has:

  • Provided shelter, supplies and other assistance to families displaced by conflict in Afghanistan
  • Protected Rohingya refugees from monsoon rains and other life-threatening hazards
  • Delivered blankets, heaters, warm clothes and cash support to Syrian refugees this winter

You have proven, time and again, that you have a heart for helping others. Today, that’s needed more than ever: at least 82.4 million people have been forced to flee their homes, the most in history.

We know that 2022 will bring new challenges. UNHCR is always prepared. And we’re hoping you’ll stand with us again in the new year.

Thank you for your support in 2021 – you’ve made a world of difference.
