Rachel Maddow reported that in Lincoln County, Georgia, a Republican-appointed Elections Board eliminated 6 out of 7 polling sites, leaving the entire county with just 1 place to cast their ballots.
It’s part of an epidemic of voter suppression: In 2021 alone, 19 states passed 33 laws that make it more difficult for Americans to vote.
We’re fighting to protect our democracy through sweeping voting rights legislation that makes voting easier and more accessible for everyone. And we support progressive Democrats who will work to get it done.
Joe Biden rode historically high voter turnout to victory in 2020.
Then, Republicans spread lies that the election was stolen, launching a massive attack on voting by mail, early voting, and voter registration in dozens of state legislatures.
Rural communities are going to be hit by this the hardest, with limited polling sites and often no public transportation, the burden is being placed fully on the voters to participate in our democracy.
