Friends --

With Omicron affecting end-of-year fundraising, this is a challenging
moment for advocacy groups like J Street. But we're determined to start
the new year strong.

In 2022, we’re taking on the anti-democratic pro-Trump MAGA movement, the
Israeli settlement movement and AIPAC’s new SuperPAC -- and our strength
depends on your support.

Together, we’re standing up for our Jewish, democratic values. For the
type of future we want to hand down to the next generation of Israelis,
Palestinians and Americans.

We have just hours left to close our shortfall. [ [link removed] ]Can we count on you for
a final, end-of-year contribution to fortify our democracy and fund our
work in 2022?

Every contribution, no matter how modest, strengthens our movement in the
year ahead.

Friends --

I hope you and your loved ones are well during what’s become a much more
difficult holiday season than expected. I also wanted to be sure you saw
my message about the year ahead, and the challenges we face in the
struggle to protect our Jewish, democratic values both in Israel and here
at home.

In 2022, our battle will be fought on two fronts:

* Against the right-wing settlement movement in Israel that continues to
trample Palestinian rights and imperil Israel’s democratic future by
pushing for more home demolitions, more construction permits and
continued impunity for violent settler attacks;
* And against the MAGA movement here at home that continues to pursue a
shameless (and frighteningly attainable) goal of undercutting our
democratic processes in order to cheat their way back into power --
using racist incitement and conspiracy theories to do so.

2022 may be filled with uncertainty, but we know this: If we can’t match
the other side’s resources, focus and commitment, our vision for the
countries and people we care for deeply will only slip further from our
grasp.

At J Street, we’re proud to represent the overwhelming majority of Jewish
Americans who feel a real connection to Israel and care deeply about its
future. The majority who know that it’s both possible and urgently
necessary for American leaders to place a much deeper focus on democracy,
peace, and human rights.

In the region and in the United States, we’ll be standing alongside
progressive allies committed to confronting the far right, upholding our
shared values and building a better future -- and our community can’t
afford to come up short.

This battle is about the future we want for the countries and people we
care about. And whether you’re able to contribute to this important
fundraising goal or not, I want to thank you, sincerely, for joining us in
this work.

Friends --

This year has been stressful and uncertain for all of us, especially with
the unwelcome arrival of Omicron. It’s been difficult to see friends and
loved ones. Vacations and get-togethers have been cancelled. Many of us
are struggling to easily access tests or booster shots.

Honestly, it’s also a challenging moment for advocacy groups like J
Street. We rely on your contributions each December for almost half of our
annual grassroots funding. We’ll depend on your support to fuel the fight
for our Jewish, democratic values in the pivotal election year ahead.

The bad news: With just six days left, we’re less than halfway to our
December goal.

The good news: We’ve been in this tough spot before, and with help from
our passionate, dedicated supporters, we’ve managed to reach our goal from
here.

I’m deeply thankful that several donors, who prefer to remain anonymous,
have pledged to double every new donation toward closing the gap.
Together, we can do this.

If you’re someone who supports a number of good causes, there are likely
to be a lot of appeals hitting your inbox right now (believe me, I
sympathize!). Here’s my pitch for an investment with J Street:

With so much uncertainty ahead, here are two things we can be certain of
in 2022:

* The right-wing settlement movement in Israel will continue to
jeopardize the future of Israelis and Palestinians by pushing for more
demolitions of Palestinian homes, more settlement construction permits
and continued impunity for violent settler attacks -- and if we don’t
push back, they will succeed;
* The MAGA movement here at home will continue to pursue their shameless
and frighteningly attainable goal of undercutting our democratic
processes in order to cheat their way back into power -- and they’ll
use bigoted incitement and dangerous conspiracy theories to do so.

But here are two more things we can be certain of in 2022…

* Our Israeli and Palestinian allies fighting for human rights and
equality will continue their battle on the frontlines, and the US has
both the power and space to do so much more to support them through
principled leadership and diplomacy -- including by adding important
oversight and restrictions on US military aid to Israel;
* We have the power to defeat the pro-Trump forces seeking to undermine
our democracy in the upcoming midterms -- because we successfully
mobilized and rallied the votes we need just one year ago.

With the midterms approaching, we must work with unity, strategy and
purpose to register voters, explain the stakes and defeat the other side’s
attempts to divide, depress and distract us.

As we plan out our strategy for critical fights on these fronts, we know
our impact will depend on the commitment of our movement and the level of
resources we can invest.

and human rights and help meet our goal?
