It's Kellie again, IRC communications officer focusing on Afghanistan and other crisis areas. I've written to you several times this week, but I'm reaching out one last time — on this very last morning of the year — because this truly is a critical moment for families in crisis zones like Afghanistan.
I was honored to visit Afghanistan a few weeks ago and witness the incredible work our teams on the ground are doing to support displaced families. I visited IRC-supported health clinics and met some of the many mothers bringing their malnourished children in for treatment.
The pain, fear and anguish these parents are facing is indescribable. I can't overstate how desperate the situation is for displaced children and families.
Thanks to a dedicated community of IRC supporters around the world, including you, we are one of the very few organizations that have been able to stay in Afghanistan through crisis after crisis and deliver life-changing aid for over 30 years. And I can say with full certainty that we will stay now and for as long as we are needed.
