Dear John,
As we stand together on the edge of a new year, I wanted
to reflect on the one just past and sincerely thank you for everything
you have done to make the next one better.
From political scandals and
mishandling of the pandemic and Brexit at home, to the fall of
Afghanistan and other worrying developments abroad, 2021 may be
another year that we as internationalists would rather forget.
However, rather than admit defeat, you have taken action and played
your part in delivering the change this country needs.
Over the past year, your support
has made it possible for Best for Britain to coordinate campaigns with
a wide range of groups, businesses and politicians against government
policies and legislation which would break international law, limit the right to
protest, make it more
difficult to launch legal challenges against government actions, and
inhibit citizens from voting.
By supporting us throughout 2021,
you have given a voice to the people and businesses hit worst by the
government’s poor Brexit deal. Through the UK Trade and Business Commission
we continue to press them
for urgent changes that will limit the damage of Brexit and pave the
way for a closer relationship with Europe in the near
future.
You have enabled us to undertake
some of the most in-depth political polling available, providing
the insight and evidence we
need to convince opposition
parties to work together ahead of the next election.
Contrary to how some history books
are written, lasting democratic change is only ever achieved when
thousands of ordinary people decide enough is enough and dedicate
their time and toil to making change a reality, as you have. There is
a long way to go but we have started down this path and together we
can change Britain for the better.
