“I just remember two physicians walking in with a box of Kleenex,” recalls Eugenia. “Our hearts sank, and our world just totally fell apart.”
Moments like these—when a family needs all the care and compassion in the world—are the hardest, most important times in the hospital. This is why I want Children's Hospital Los Angeles to be available to every family and child in their most extreme time of need, John. It's why I get out of bed every day—to ensure our patients can receive the care that can change their lives and their families' lives.
Your
tax-deductible gift of $10 or more to the Children's Fund today goes 3X as far to ensure we provide leading-edge care to every child who walks through our doors.
At 22 months, Florence had started to feel sick, throwing up in the early mornings, with no signs of improvement. While her parents, Eugenia and Richard, did not want to visit an emergency room during a pandemic, they desperately wanted to find out why their daughter was so sick. They decided to take a chance at Children's Hospital Los Angeles's Emergency Department.
Eugenia and Richard's worst nightmare came to life. Florence was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. But through this terrifying experience, they found that Children's Hospital Los Angeles was the best place for their daughter to get the care and treatment she needed.
Eugenia knew the challenges the care team faced navigating COVID-19 while trying to keep immunocompromised patients, like Florence, safe. "Throughout our entire journey, everyone was just so patient, understanding, kind and reassuring," Eugenia says. "Even though they knew I was a nurse, they saw me as a mom."
John, with your
support we'll keep changing—and saving—lives like Florence's. Make a
tax-deductible year-end gift of $10 before Dec. 31 and it will be TRIPLE-matched thanks to Credit Unions for Kids, dollar for dollar, up to $300,000.
After six rounds of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, Florence is cancer-free.
This is what we want for every child at Children's Hospital Los Angeles—and that's what your gift today can help accomplish. Please give as generously as you can. Right now, every $1 becomes $3...every $100 becomes $300...and every $1,000 becomes $3,000 when you give before midnight tomorrow, thanks to Credit Unions for Kids.
But outcomes like Florence's come through determined care and groundbreaking research—and that is made possible by supporters like you. Please, make your year-end gift now.
Sincerely,
|
