We did it. Yesterday, we won back the Virginia legislature.

For the first time in decades, Democrats secured majorities in both chambers of the Virginia State Capitol:

Yesterday’s elections show what we can accomplish when we put up a fight in key state legislative races. We invested $1 million in 2017 to help flip a dozen seats in the Virginia House of Delegates. Now, we’ve finished the job and won back power in a key state legislature ahead of the 2021 redistricting process.

The era of Republican gerrymandering in the Commonwealth is over. After years of the GOP’s stalling and obstruction, we can now expect progress on the issues that matter to Virginians: health care, prescription drugs, gun control, climate change, and the list goes on and on.

But Virginia was just the beginning of our fight this cycle to reclaim and restore our democracy. We cannot take our foot off the gas. Going into 2020, there's a handful of state legislative elections that are going to define the balance of power in Congress for the next decade.

Chip in now to help us build upon our victory in Virginia and continue the fight to retake key legislative chambers before 2021. Despite the spotlight on the presidential race, we cannot lose sight of other battlegrounds for redistricting.

We must bring the same energy that we brought to Virginia to other key state legislative races across the country if we want to stop the GOP's gerrymandering of the next decade and safeguard our democracy.
