Let us level with you: tomorrow’s official FEC deadline is the most important one of our campaign so far and a big opportunity for our campaign. Here’s why:

1. The general election has already started: Our Republican opponents are going to be looking for any signs of weakness. And if we’re able to report a massive number of donations, we can make clear we’re ready to run a general election campaign that can win in November.

2. We’re not taking a dime of corporate PAC money: Our campaign is people-powered by folks like you chipping in what you can afford, when you can afford it, and we’ve earned support from every county in North Carolina. We’re incredibly proud of that fact, but it also means small-dollar donations are even more important.

3. This is going to be an incredibly competitive race: Cook Political Report has rated North Carolina as a “toss-up” and CNN said just this month that it’s one of Democrats’ three best chances to pick up a Senate seat. So you know that Republicans are going to do — and spend — anything they can to try to defeat Cheri and stop us from expanding our majority.
