Marjorie Taylor Greene calls for a national divorce between Republican and Democratic states

Did you see the news that broke this morning? Donald Trump’s “favorite Congresswoman,” Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling for a “national divorce” between Republican and Democratic states.  

She posted a long, conspiracy theory-filled Twitter thread and blamed Democratic “communist” policies for her decision.

This is a dangerous suggestion with significant precedent. Georgia once unsuccessfully tried to secede from the U.S. so wealthy Georgians could continue to own Black people as slaves.
