Dear John, 2021 has been a busy and important year for the fight for the Boundary Waters -- national momentum to finally protect this beloved Wilderness continues to build. The Biden Administration has taken the first steps towards initiating a 20-year sulfide-ore copper mining ban in the watershed of the Boundary Waters, and U.S. Representative Betty McCollum’s permanent protection bill is gaining support.
But we have one big problem: Twin Metals. This company, owned by Chilean mining conglomerate Antofagasta, still has the rights to two federal mineral leases in the headwaters of the Boundary Waters. Will you help make 2022 the year we kick Antofagasta out of this watershed once and for all?
We only have two more days to raise our critical year end funds. John, don't let another year slip away without donating to the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters! Can we count on you to give a donation this year? Chip in right now and your tax-deductible donation will be matched up to $100,000 by the Manitou Fund. In addition to protecting the Boundary Waters from a foreign mining conglomerate with terrible environmental and human-rights records, we at the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters have a lot on our plate in 2022, including:
As always, for the Wilderness and the people it supports,
Ingrid Lyons Interim Executive Director Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters
