Dear Friend,

Government officials, law enforcement agencies and Big Tech companies continue to hype the inevitability and supposed "safety" of their increased monitoring of every aspect of our lives and work. Yet we know that surveillance in the digital age is not necessary or neutral — but an extension of long-standing racism, sexism, classism, and other forms of oppression.

TOMORROW, Team MediaJustice is bringing a delegation of Black and brown grassroots activists to the annual Color of Surveillance conference ([link removed]) in Washington, D.C. to remind the room just that. With this year's conference focused on the monitoring of poor and working class people, our delegates will speak specifically to the role race, gender and economic status have and continue to play in justifying the high-tech surveillance of workers of color.

Tune in LIVE to tomorrow’s conversations by:
* Following @mediajustice on Twitter ([link removed]) , Instagram ([link removed]) and Facebook ([link removed]) for live updates and commentary from our delegates themselves.
* Checking out our latest blog ([link removed]) on the harmful impacts of surveillance and our communities’ histories of resisting high-tech monitoring.
* Joining the online conversation using #ColorOfSurveillance ([link removed]) and tagging @mediajustice.

In Solidarity,

Myaisha and the rest of Team MediaJustice
