Hey y’all –
A huge part of advocating for LGBTQ Southerners starts with understanding our community’s unique needs and challenges. That’s what I’ve been committed to doing as a major centerpiece of my career as a sociologist – and it’s why the Campaign for Southern Equality has invested so much energy and resources into leading community-based research projects.
The problem is that less than 10% of LGBTQ-focused research focuses on people living in the South. This year CSE sought to fill in this major gap by building on our previous research work with this summer’s launch of the Southern Equality Research & Policy Center.
We immediately embarked on a major new data collection project, surveying thousands of LGBTQ people in the South about their lives, health, and experiences. We’re crunching the data now and will have a report in 2022 – we’re so excited to share with you.
But groundbreaking research like this can be expensive – and to make it as impactful as possible, we need your support. Can you kick in $50, $25, or what you’re able to give to support the work of CSE’s Southern Equality Research & Policy Center in the new year?
