Dear John,

Earlier this week, the Trump Administration formally initiated the process to withdraw the US from the Paris Climate Accord.

But WE ARE STILL IN.

By withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, President Trump is failing in his duty to protect Americans from climate change.

The threat that climate change poses to Americans is even clearer than it was two years ago, when Trump first announced his Administration’s intention to leave the Paris Agreement. Over the last two years the latest National Climate Assessment, authored by our country’s top scientists, was unequivocal: climate change already affects every sector and region of the U.S., threatening millions of Americans’ health, homes, and livelihoods.

CLIMATE CHANGE FACTS:
  • This July was the warmest month in history. The last five years are the warmest years ever recorded.
  • The U.S. has experienced more than $400 billion in weather and climate disaster costs since 2014. The U.S. economy is on track to lose hundreds of billions of dollars from climate impacts annually by the end of the century.
  • Rising seas, increased storm surge, and tidal flooding threaten $1 trillion in coastal infrastructure and property.
President Trump is ignoring the overwhelming majority of Americans that support the Paris Agreement.
  • More than 75% of registered voters support continued U.S. participation in the Paris Climate Agreement (including 92% of Democrats, 75% of Independents and 60% of Republicans).
  • American states, cities, and businesses committed to the Paris Agreement represent nearly 70% of GDP and nearly 65% of the U.S. population.
We Are Still In banner
It was more than 2 years ago that Ceres partnered to found WE ARE STILL IN and today more than 3,800 businesses and investors, states, cities and counties, higher education institutions, cultural institutions, healthcare organizations, faith groups and tribes have declared their continued support for climate action to meet the Paris Agreement.
Join the movement today and declare WE ARE STILL IN.
Thank you!
