Dear Friend,
All year, ANSWER chapters have been mobilizing, educating and
organizing in cities and towns throughout the United States connecting
the fight for social justice at home to war and occupation abroad. The
U.S. empire does not rest for a single day, neither can we!
ANSWER is a one-of-a-kind organization that plays an indispensable
role in the U.S. antiwar movement to mobilize people across the
country to challenge imperialist aggression, criminal military
actions, and policies of sanctions of the U.S. government.
Supporters like you are critical for expanding the reach of our
organizing work into cities and towns across the country! As we enter the new year, please consider making a
generous donation to keep this crucial effort to rid the world of the
evils of war and racism going.
Let's look back on just some
of ANSWER's work in 2021:
|
In
March, ANSWER organized actions in over 60 cities and towns across the
U.S. in solidarity with the Asian community amid the horrific, racist,
and misogynist massacre that took place in Atlanta. The protests
called attention to the link between the rise of anti-Asian hate
crimes and an increasingly hostile U.S. foreign policy towards China.
|
|
ANSWER organizers initiated and participated in many of the
Cuba solidarity monthly car caravans across the country demanding the
Biden administration immediately reverse Trump's 240 measures imposed
to manufacture suffering for the Cuban people and an end to the 60+
year criminal U.S. blockade.
|
|
In May, the ANSWER Coalition called on all to join or
organize solidarity actions in cities big and small demanding an end
to Israel's brutal bombing campaign of Gaza and an end to all U.S.
funding to the apartheid state. Tens of thousands in the U.S.
protested for weeks as part of an international movement for the
freedom of Palestine from colonial occupation.
|
|
ANSWER co-organized the International Day of Solidarity for
Haiti with several organizations in support of the mass movement in
Haiti against the U.S. backed neocolonial regime and dictatorship of
Jovenal Moise. In the wake of Moise’s assassination later in the year,
ANSWER initiated & participated in demos that demanded no U.S.
intervention and to respect the Haitian people's right to self
determination.
|
|
In July, the ANSWER Coalition joined with others to place
a full page ad in the NYT--an open letter to president Biden signed by
over 400 prominent individuals--under the headline LET CUBA LIVE! In
response to a renewed CIA orchestrated destabilization campaign inside
Cuba, ANSWER along with others organized dozens of solidarity actions
demanding U.S. hands off Cuba in July and November.
|
|
Earlier this year, the U.S. troops were pulled out of
Afghanistan after a 20 year illegal invasion, war and occupation.
Weeks later, Iraq war veteran and ANSWER organizer Mike Prysner
confronted former U.S. president and war criminal George W. Bush at a
Beverly Hills event demanding he apologize for lying to the American
public to invade countries like Iraq and Afghanistan--destroying the
lives of millions in the Middle East.
|
|
In November, ANSWER co-sponsored a day of protest
organized by the Horn of Africa Hub and joined tens of thousands
across the country from the Ethiopian and Eritrean diaspora to demand
#NoMore U.S. intervention! U.S. out of Africa! Protests called for an
end to the sanctions on Ethiopia and Eritrea and to respect the
independent countries' sovereignty.

|
After recently returning from a trip to the Horn of
Africa, in December, journalist with BreakThrough News and ANSWER
organizer Eugene Puryear was joined by journalist Hermela Aregawi for
a panel in NYC to detail the political situation in Ethiopia. The
event was co-sponsored by ANSWER and the New Africa
Institute.
