Dear John,

This year started with radically reimagining Climate Justice Alliance’s
leadership. In July we were excited to announce a visionary Co-Executive
Director model [3] that brought three powerful women together to lead our
alliance into the future.

On top of that, CJA transitioned from being a fiscally sponsored project to
an independent 501(c)3 organization, all while continuing to do the work
we're mandated to do – supporting our members in creating a Just
Transition from the dominant extractive economy to localized, regenerative
systems. There’s a lot we’re honored to have been a part of, including:

* Earlier this month we held our first member assembly as an independent
organization, WITH OVER 100 ATTENDEES REPRESENTING 49 ORGANIZATIONS,
including 28 grassroots base-building groups.

* In November we joined our comrades in It Takes Roots and SUPPORTED A
DELEGATION OF FRONTLINE LEADERS TO COP26 [4] TO DEMAND THEIR VOICES BE
INCLUDED AND CENTERED in international negotiations.

* Back in May our 5th Annual Just Transition Finance Training BROUGHT
TOGETHER 26 MEMBERS WHO EXPLORED HOW TO FINANCE VISIONARY JUST TRANSITION
PROJECTS in a way that confronts capitalism in their communities.

* Worked with Movement Generation and New Economy Coalition to launch
Creative Wildfire [5], an ARTISTIC COLLABORATION RESISTING A “RETURN TO
NORMAL” after the pandemic, because normal is what got us into this mess
in the first place.

* Our team surveyed, and led in-depth interviews with, our members to
inform A STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS THAT WILL CREATE A TEN YEAR STRATEGY
for the alliance so we can collectively navigate the rest of this crisis
decade.
