If we haven’t had the chance to meet, my name is José González – proud parent of X González and Board Chair of the March For Our Lives Foundation.
On Valentine’s Day nearly four years ago at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, my family was forever impacted by the plague of gun violence. My child and their friends and educators were attacked in what should have been one of the safest places for them to be: their school. Seventeen were murdered; another 17 were wounded. It was on that day that I was forced to wake up to the fact that our children are never safe – not at school, not walking down the sidewalk, nowhere – because of this epidemic. Gun violence is an epidemic , and a uniquely American one, at that. I say this because, since that day, I have met survivors and parents of victims from all over America. Families that have become “friends” through tragedies that could have been prevented if we all just decided to do something.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you, today, to ask if I can count on your support before the new year. A generous donor is willing to match every dollar donated before 2022, up to $50,000. That means your gift can go twice as far in this fight to build a safer world for America’s children.

Nothing can ever erase that Valentine's Day, but it inspired me to join forces with our young people as they undertake critical and lifesaving work. Just this year, March For Our Lives filed Amicus Briefs in court cases at all levels, sued the Florida Board of Education, and rallied on the steps of the Supreme Court to prevent the expansion of open carry. We released the ‘It Ends With Us’ comprehensive policy plan, made significant investments in communities hit hard by gun violence and COVID-19, and so much more. We have so much to be proud of — and we need your help to keep up the good work.
March For Our Lives has a lot of plans for 2022, but we need you, John, to make them happen. One third of charitable donations happen in the last 48 hours of the year — and the window is closing for tax-deductible donations to March For Our Lives Foundation in 2021.
Gun violence can destroy communities and families in an instant. I’ve seen it happen. And I will do everything in my power to make sure that no more children are taken from their parents, no more students fear for their lives at school, and no more families are ripped apart.
