Dear Friend,
I wish I could say that COVID-19 was in the "rear view
mirror" now. But the pandemic is still very real here. COVID-19
travel restrictions are impacting our work.
Even with these compromised working conditions, we treated thousands
of animals this year. These animals make life possible for people here
as they work the fields or carry goods such as huge sacks of grain
filled to bursting, propane tanks, bolts of fabric, construction
materials, and anything else you can imagine through the dusty, narrow
streets of Fez, Morocco.
We've taken in donkeys, mules, and horses with everything from
severe cases of malnourishment, to trauma left untreated - and
huge tumors that would have been excised long before had the animals
been in the U.S. All this while dealing with staff and interns who
became sick with COVID, and implementing preventive measures to reduce
the risk of infection.
Yes, it's been another challenging year - but you can help
