Midnight Friday is the deadline for the very closely watched final Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing of the year. It is also the last FEC report before Maryland's February 2022 deadline for candidates filing to run for the Senate — the date Mitch McConnell is eyeing because he has until then to recruit a statewide Republican candidate to run against me here in Maryland.
McConnell and his special interest allies are heavily recruiting Maryland's Republican Governor, Larry Hogan, to enter this race. And according to recent CNN reporting, Hogan – who spent much of this past year opposing the American Rescue Plan and now the Build Back Better initiative to help working families and address climate change – is actively engaging with McConnell's latest recruiting efforts.
That's why it's so important that we show that we are ready for whatever they throw at us.
