Six months ago, you heard from me and my colleagues, other freshman Democrats with national security and military backgrounds, on what it means to be a servant leader. Today, we reach out again as it marks one year from when voters will decide who will lead our nation.



In service to our country, one thing has always been clear: you've got to have the back of the people who fight next to you, and they've got to have yours. In Congress, we bring that same attitude and value of service with us to work every day to pass productive legislation on behalf of our constituents.



And that's why I'm reaching out today--the situation in our nation's capital is impossible to ignore--and the targets on our backs are growing larger as we continue to stand up for what is right.



The next year of campaigning won't be easy, but it will be critical in deciding the direction of our country.
