With just ONE day left until our biggest fundraising deadline yet, we still haven’t reached our goal to receive a $50,000 matching gift. With so much at stake in 2022, we can’t afford to leave anything on the table.
Here’s what I have down for you:

Even as recently as last year, many thought Supreme Court expansion was just a pipe dream. But thanks to our relentless organizing, 49 members of Congress have signed on to sponsor the Judiciary Act and over 100 organizations nationwide have pledged their support for Court expansion.
We’ve got momentum on our side heading into 2022 because it’s never been clearer that the Supreme Court is out of control. The Court derives its power from the respect of the American people, and it’s lost it.
That’s the thing, John. The reason we’re doing this work isn’t to win a philosophical argument. Republicans stole a Supreme Court supermajority to enact their far-right, unpopular agenda from the bench — now hard-won rights protecting our privacy, our vote, and our autonomy as human beings are at risk.
The Judiciary Act is how we fix this — it’s about rebalancing power, and redressing the seats Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell stole to create this illegitimate Court. We’re going to add FOUR seats to the Supreme Court in 2022, ramping up our organizing efforts to build the political power required to get it done.
We also know now’s the time to keep the pressure on — a Gallup poll shows public approval of the Supreme Court is at 40%, an all-time low, and disapproval at an all-time high (53%), with 6 in 10 Americans believing the Court's decisions are based more on the political leanings of justices than the Constitution and the law.
The American people understand that a handful of extremist right-wing judges are holding us hostage. In 2022, we're going to expand the Court and return the power back where it belongs — with the people.
But we’re running out of time to make sure we have all the resources we need heading into 2022. Thanks for giving whatever you can to Take Back the Court today.
Thank you for all you do,
Sarah Lipton-Lubet,
Executive Director, Take Back the Court
